Description

A large copper engraving of the city of of Ostend from a bird's eye view: "Plan of the Investiture of Ostend, Surrendered 6 July 1706". I[saac] Basire Sculpt (engraver). For Mr Tindal's continuation of Mr Rapin's History of England. Published in London ca 1750. 
This print shows the troops of the English and Dutch allied army who attacked the French in the city, resulting in the surrender on July 6, 1706. Many ships on the sea. With legend of markets, churches and buildings.
Framed in a beautiful wooden frame, slightly damaged. Glass broken. We can repair it if desired.
Frame dimensions: 64*56 cm, passe-partout/engraving: 48 to 48.5 * 39.5 cm. From antiquarian bookstore R. Van Bladel, Antwerp.
